Forget Me Not: E-Learning

The Forget Me Not platform encourages its users to learn more about reminiscence and dementia care in general. As a result of the three Forget Me Not projects, there is a set of training materials available for self-directed learning or for vocational trainers to be used as tools in their professional training courses. Further tools are available in the section "FMN local partners", those are more suitable for professionals. The training resources presented here can be used by anyone active in the care of a person living with dementia, whether they are a professional carer or a caring family member.

There are 5 training modules on the use of the Forget-me-not platform for reminiscence activities. These training modules can be used for free by care providers or non-professional carers as they are adapted for both self-learning and face-to-face teaching. Their use is regulated by the rules of European Union's Erasmus+ programme, allowing anyone free access to the training materials, but forbidding any reproduction, further sale and modification without the consent of the project consortium.

By integrating reminiscence with creative arts—including art appreciation, crafts, music, and theatrical activities—the project introduces an innovative approach to dementia care. This trainer’s manual serves as a guide for health and social care professionals, educators, and carers to implement this non-pharmaceutical intervention method. It also seeks to foster professional development through continuing vocational education and training (VET) and provide educators with the tools to prepare future professionals in social care, education, and cultural sectors.

 

The involved partners organised practical sessions to test and validate the proposed Creative Reminiscence activity plans, with the aim to record testimonies of sessions with people living with dementia.

The following short inspirational videos are presented as case studies from each of the creative reminiscence sessions and the tested model activities. The proposed 8 videos reflect different combinations of reminiscence and at least 2 art activities: crafts, theatre, music and art appreciation.
